Evening all,
I hope you’re having a lovely weekend.
Apologies for the late post, it’s been a busy weekend with FEASTing, fairs & fish fingers (couldn't muster much else for tea after such a full on weekend).
Today was the first West Norwood Feast of the season (a super cool local market with food, artisans & vintage fodder too). Cheesy PIC alert 🫣
It was good to be back with a big box of doodles, freshly painted bottoms, clouds and some dog walkers too.
It’s always a treat to meet and greet customers and chat with the other stall holders.
I was lucky enough to be next to the brilliant Paul McBride (of Postcode Prints), talk at length about biros, lockdown donuts (his very clever wife baked some incredible batches during 2020), and have a peek inside his beautiful sketchbook:

Just along the way was the fantabulous Helen Blair Ceramics (who not only makes beautiful ceramics but also hosts workshops ON THE WHEEL in her SE London studio - they’re great, we’ve been).

AND further along still was the lovely Ana Gallego who not only had one of the most fab dresses I’ve seen in ages on, but creates the most wonderful architectural watercolour illustrations.
A favourite of mine being Ana’s painting below of Fryers Delight, Theobolds Rd, London. A place I used to frequent when at Central Saint Martins just down the road, a million years ago. I love that places & spaces being back so many memories. Ana captures them perfectly.

There’s no rest for the wicked as the springtime fair action continues with Artists Open House next TWO weekends.
I’ll be painting like a loon this week in preparation.
It will be SO nice to see you if you can make it.
Midweek (for paid subscribers) there’s a calming Creative dOOdling session with all things OPPOSITES.
Eyes peeled for the zOOM code on Wednesday morning. Come and join us for less than a posh coffee a month (£6/ month to subscribe).
AND I’m thrilled to bits, next weekend here on Substack, it’s With What Do I Doodle? with one of my favourite illustrators ever, Blanca Gomez.
EEEP. SO much going on!
For now it’s a bank holiday weekend here in the UK so I’ll be having a day with the littles tomorrow swimming, baking (we might have to try the donuts below inspired by Paul McBride’s wife) and getting the garden ship shape for Open Studios.

Happy weekend to you,
