Morning!
I hope you’re well.
It’s been a chilly week here with the sun peeping through to wink at us in the mornings. The milkman has recovered (see previous post) and my Hellebores are flowering beautifully, hooray.
We’ve been on a trip to Brescia, Italy, to see family, and spent a lovely long weekend celebrating a 40th. It was… delicious. Here are a few:
oOOOOOOO, the colours. I took myself off, with camera, for a walk about on the last day collecting colours from the city. I love doing this. It’s such a great way to build new colour palettes if you’re ever stuck or need to get out of a colour ‘rut’. I’ll be working these up SOON and can’t wait for a bit of a play with paint, pastels and frolicsome mark-making to bring them to life.
Pistachio sorbet. Game changer.
Sketching statues in numerous squares, with coffee. I had the coffee (not the statue) whilst doodling said statues in charcoal and pencil. T’was fab to sit outside and draw for a bit.
Thank you aunty H & uncle V for such a wondrous weekend.
This week we’ve been concentrating on the little things and remembering to be kind. After all kindness is a superpower (tried, tested and proven).
It’s an onomatopoeia kind of week this week at Illustration Club with the kids, and we tested out a few ideas last Friday, getting our cartoon on and channeling Cy Twombly in neon pastel. BLISS:
I can’t wait to see the results!
AND finally, I made a drawing for the excellent Colour Collective feed last week too. Hosted by my fab author/illustrator friend Penny Neville-Lee it’s a weekly prompt on Instagram all about, well, colour. Check it out here.
I made mine into a SPOT the DIFFERENCE for a dose of lOOking:
8 to spot.
LOOK, see, spot, enjoy.
It’s dOOdling this week if you fancy a bit of a drawing session. The ZOOM code will go out this Wednesday morning and I shall be ready to draw with you at 7.30pm (UK) sharp! Well my pencils will be sharp anyway.
Happy Sunday!
