Hello, happy Wednesday!
How are you?
It’s the…
AND phew to that as it’s a very busy week here what with World Book Day (week) and all.
I’m working with some lovely schools this week, hosting workshops and draw alongs galore! Great fun. I LOVE working with mini folk, they are literally BURSTING with enthusiasm and ideas and they’re very funny indeed.
Of course, it’s a real privilege to be dipping in and out of schools as an author. Teachers have the really hard work supporting the little ones day in day out and I have so much respect for them. I think teachers are brilliant. Thank you to all teachers far and wide. You really are incredible.
I was particularly impressed with the teacher’s drawings of the many mice we doodled at a lovely school in West London yesterday. So pleased they enjoyed the workshops as much as the kids!
Anyway, rambling on!
If you’re having a full on week too and need a few minutes respite, then here’s a favourite prompt from my dOOdling workshops.
‘Hatch, Smudge, Spot’.
The idea is to draw the same thing three times (for a minute each time) using a cross hatch style first, then a smudged pencil for the next, then just using dots or spots for the last one.
Here’s a duck picture for some inspiration, and a ‘Hatch, Smudge Spot’ example of mine:
A simple instruction but one that always loosens me up ready for a day of painting or drawing.
Let me know how you do! I’d love to see and might just stick you on my list of folk to send goodies to!
I’ve got five prompts left to finish, then it’s off to the printers for my new CAT dOOdling book. Hooray!
The early bird offer ends very soon so… PRE order today for £10 (usually £14)!
The first batch will be heading out 1st APRIL if not sooner.
It’s also £50 instead of £64 for a YEARS subscription to Creative dOOdling until the weekend.
A perfect pressie for creative or stressed out mums. Time for her to have a brain break. What could be better?
If you have any questions, queries or quandaries then please do get in touch, it would be lovely to hear from you.
In the mean time happy Wednesday and happy World Book Week 📚
